For crying out loud BBC give it a rest. It's the way the character is written and is fictional. Your programs which try to be Cleveland Browns 80 + 6 +13 = Loaded Shirt have many views which I still don't agree with and yet I don't get offended by them. James Bond typifies the sexual mores of the Sixties, and although the Bond movies remain popular, by the 1990s they were already archaic enough to be parodied in the Austin Powers movies. They are fun, but they are not really as relevant as they used to be, and should really be seen as historical fiction rather than as contemporary spy fiction!
